Luke + Reilly

On January 31st, Luke asked Reilly to marry him and she said, “YES!”  It was a tear-inducing, joy-filled moment and as the photographer hired to capture it, I almost missed it!  Luke and Reilly travelled in from out of state – a surprise trip for Reilly – so they could celebrate their engagement with her family.  Luke and I spent a lot of time on the phone choosing the location and then on FaceTime choosing the SPECIFIC spot within the location that he would propose.  We settled on the “yellow route” where I could hide in the trees and still capture the shots, but we also had a green and a blue route as additional options.

The day of the proposal came.  Luke and I shared our locations with each other for the day so I could track them and make sure I was in position.  From my hiding spot, I saw Luke and Reilly stroll past on their walk.  Fully expecting him to walk her back around to the yellow route spot, I turned my back to them, set all my gear up for the best lighting and waited.  And waited.  And then I got nervous and felt the Lord say, “Turn around,” so I did. Luke was on his knee in the meadow, proposing on the BLUE route.  GAH!!!!!! How did I get that wrong?  I hurdled the log I was hiding behind and shot photos as I ran across the meadow.  Thankfully my gear is insane and we were able to use all the real time images and didn’t have re-create any of them.

After Luke introduced me to Reilly we moved right into their engagement photo session, their joy and love so abundantly evident.  It was a holy moment and such an honor to capture it for Luke and Reilly.  Well done Luke!  And thank you Luke and Reilly for blessing me with your love.  May God bless you in your marriage.
