Jacie + Aaron

Oh my gosh!  I got to photograph ANOTHER proposal, exactly a month after the first one I’ve ever done.  Even more ironic, the couple ended up getting engaged in the exact same location!  Meet Aaron and Jacie.  They’ve been dating for over three years and Aaron was ready to propose.  He knew Jacie would want her family there and was trying to find a creative way to include them without making Jacie suspicious.  Being a Very Smart Guy he enlisted the help of her Mom, who suggested he join them for family portraits.  Everyone would be dressed up and looking beautiful, Jacie would be happy that Aaron was significant enough to be included in a couple family photos, and then he would have a natural segue into proposing AND capturing it all on film.  So we booked a family photo session.  And then this stormy, VERY RAINY weather rolled in.  It’s been raining for days.  Everything is soaked and muddy and I’ve been trying to work in photo sessions between rain showers.  But this session had too many variables included.  We needed to shoot it, rain or shine.  So I suggested George Fox University.  It has several buildings with covered areas large enough to photograph a group under and the grounds are beautifully maintained. I nervously watched the weather forecast the week leading up to the proposal.  Rain. Rain and more rain.  And then… Saturday’s forecast changed to cloudy and held steady as just cloudy, with no rain. All the praise hands!  We didn’t have to shoot their session under cover and when I asked where they’d like to do it instead, the whole family voted for the bridge.  Talk about deja’ vu!

I photographed the family, like a normal family photo session.  And when Jacie asked if she and Aaron could get a photo together, I said “Yes.”  Aaron took it and ran with it from that point forward.  It was a beautiful, celebratory moment of joy and love.  What a privilege to capture it for this family.  Congratulations Aaron and Jacie! Have the best time planning your wedding and starting your life together.
