Grace and Kyler

Kyler and Grace are two of the kindest, polite, and thoughtful high schoolers I have ever worked with.  Early into their session, Kyler very sincerely paused and asked me, “How has your day been today?  What have you been up to?”  I was momentarily speechless.  High school boys just don’t ask me how I’m doing.  Grace was just the same.  So many “thank you’s” and quick responses to text messages…  These kids are gems.  It’s no wonder they’ve been dating their entire high school career.

Because Kyler and Grace have such a long history together, they wanted to do their senior session together. We broke their time into three mini sessions: one for Grace, one for Kyler and one for them together.  It was the first time I’ve done something like this and it worked.  I think they both felt honored individually and had fun getting photos together as well.  The weather for their session was sunny, windy, warm, then super cold and finished with a downpour and a double rainbow (one for each of them).  How cool is that?

Grace is one of Newberg High School’s top female track stars.  The 400m is where she shines, but she basically dominates any race her coach asks her to run, and she does it with humility and a focused smile on her face. She’s a Big Deal, but she would never tell you that.  She’d probably ask you how your day was.  Grace loves Jesus, is a loyal friend, involved in student council, and has a very sweet friendship with her Mom that is obvious every time I see them interact.

Kyler is a baseball player for Newberg High School.  He and his best friends have stayed loyal to a program that has been slowly rebuilding their entire high school career.  They are set up for their senior season to be really successful and I can’t wait to watch them play.  Sometimes delayed gratification is even more satisfying than immediate success. Kyler also loves Jesus, is a loyal friend, and has admirable relationships with his parents.  He is involved in student council, FCA, and can be found supporting his friends at all different types of Newberg High School sporting events.

Kyler and Grace are the type of young adults that make the world a better place.  It was so fun to work with them.  I look forward to cheering them on in their endeavors this year.

” The LORD bless you and keep you;

the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;

the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
