The Best 70th Birthday Present

One winter Friday, my friend Natasha texted me inquiring about purchasing a gift certificate for an extended family portrait session.  Her entire family was in town, their photographer had cancelled unexpectedly and this was supposed to be a 70th birthday present for their Dad. I am seldom available last minute on the weekends, but I just “happened” to be wide open that weekend.  So instead of a gift certificate, we took advantage of pre-planned outfits, recently updated hair cuts, and everyone being in town to do a last minute extended family photo session.

It was cold, but thankfully dry.  The sun even emerged for a while. And it was SO fun for me to meet Natasha’s siblings, their spouses, her nieces and nephews and her parents.  They are a joy-filled group and it shows in their portraits. We even snapped a couple senior portraits for one of Natasha’s nephews. Additionally, Natasha’s parents celebrated their wedding anniversary the following week.  I can’t remember the exact number, but it was in the 40’s!!!!  What a legacy they are leaving for their children.

I can’t think of a better 70th birthday present.  Happy birthday Steve.  And happy anniversary to you and Lillian.  Thank you for being an example for all of us to follow.  May God continue to bless you and your family.
