Going To The Chapel
Sarah was our first of what became five Big’s – “quasi adopted adult children.” She lived with us for 18 months in one of the darkest seasons of our family’s history, but she didn’t judge us. She loved us, stepped in to help and became part of the family. Curt gives everyone nicknames so she promptly became “Sarai Stilmot.” Sarah is everything a parent hopes their child will become: generous, kind, thoughtful, wise, smart, hard working, God-loving, fun, funny, motivated, respected by her peers, adored by her students… You name it – Sarai embodies it.
When Sarai met Matt she was casually dating someone else, but Matt made an impression big enough that we heard about him after the party where they met. Sarai and Casually Dating Guy broke up. Shortly after, Sarai and Matt went on their first date. Not one to be rushed, Sarai wanted time to build their relationship and be certain about All The Things. Matt was happy to oblige and lovingly wooed our girl. He gave her space to wrestle with things and freedom to be herself. He challenged her to think outside the box and be okay with not having everything perfectly aligned. They are so good for each other: an answer to all the parents’ (and quasi-adopted parents) prayers.
Matt proposed to our girl in May and plans for a December wedding are well underway. I was thrilled and honored to be invited to take their engagement photos. We had a perfect summer night with magical lighting and stunning setting on private property in the mountains. I didn’t really have to tell them how to pose or what to do… they just love each other and it shows. I’m so grateful God brought them together in His perfect timing.
Cheers to you Matt and Sarai. You’re doing it. Going to the chapel and you’re gonna get married. We can’t wait. Love – Momma Jodi
