Taking Advantage of Being Together for the Holidays
Every holiday season I get inquiries from clients wondering if I’m willing to shoot photo sessions in the days just before or just after Christmas. The answer is almost always “Yes.” Not because I particularly like peeling myself off the couch where I’m snuggled with my crew who are home on Christmas break, but because I understand just how special getting a family photo is, especially when the people you love move far away. Capturing the rare moments when the entire crew is back together is The Best Gift and I’m always honored to be asked to be the one to do it.
The Duley’s had traveled from all over the country to be together for Christmas. We had exactly ONE morning that we could shoot their session and it was basically a winter monsoon – DUMPING rain with 20+mph winds driving the rain all over, including into the outdoor covered area where we had intended to shoot their session if it was raining. So there we were… a massive group of people, huddled under cover in our coats with our hoods up trying to contrive a Plan B that could be accomplished before the Littles started breaking down. We were able to get permission to use the lobby of a local office building – not at all what I had envisioned when I put a creative plan in place for this session, but it was warm, dry and not windy. Three fabulous reasons to be thankful and just go with the flow.
Thank you Duley Family for being flexible. I’m glad we found a warm dry place to take your photos and that we got them done before we lost power from the storm. Have a great year.
