Kaia
Kaia is a Class of 2021 senior at Westside Christian High School. She is also one of my daughter Alli’s best friends. I’m all sorts of emotional about Kaia being a senior. Makes me wish we could slow time down. Kaia is a talented soccer player. Soccer is her passion and it has been for years. The state of Oregon is still locked down due to COVID restrictions, so the start of Kaia’s senior year looks like mostly online school and no fall soccer season. OSAA has promised a truncated high school soccer season in the spring instead, but with most things COVID related, we’ll believe it when it happens. It feels like a big loss for an athlete as accomplished as Kaia, but I am praying that the restrictions in our state will loosen up so these seniors will get to celebrate their senior year milestones after all.
Kaia is funny. Her sarcasm, facial expressions, and well timed humor keep me on my toes and laughing when I’m around her. Kaia has a gift with children. They flock to her. Love her. Climb on her. Get all up in her grill. And she doesn’t care. She takes it all in stride and makes each kid feel like the most special kid on the planet. Kaia uses this gift by regularly serving in the children’s program at our church, and she has travelled to India and Africa on several trips to serve orphans in these countries.
Kaia is unpretentious. Authentic. Blunt. You never have to guess what she’s feeling and she’s not afraid to speak the truth. She loves Jesus and is a loyal friend. I love all these things about her.
Kaia – thanks for a memorable senior portrait day. Thanks for being such a good friend to my girl. I love you! Have the best senior year.
