Sweet Sixteen

Our daughter Katie celebrated her sweet sixteen birthday this month.  I’d been asking her for weeks what she wanted to do to celebrate, but she never formulated any specific or concrete plan.  On the Saturday before her birthday, my husband and I looked at each other and asked, “Do you think we could pull off a surprise party in two days?”

I roped one of Katie’s best friends into the planning and within two hours we had a guest list formulated and invites sent out.  I still can’t believe that so many of her friends were able to come on such ridiculously short notice, but they did.  It was such a blessing to pack the house with these lovely girls and 100% surprise Katie as she walked in the door from work.

After we ate, I took the girls out for a golden hour photo session.  I love how the images turned out and the friendship that they celebrate.  Happiest of birthdays Katie Joy.  I love being your mom.
